What is Brainspotting?
It's focused. It's efficient. And it works.
Brainspotting is a neuroexperiential intervention discovered by Dr. David Grand. Brainspotting helps locate, process and release unprocessed trauma or stress stored in the body and brain. Brainspotting accesses deeper areas of the brain where traditional talk therapy can't always reach and helps clear performance-limiting blocks at the source.

How does it work?
With Brainspotting, we are able to bypass the neocortex (the thinking part of the brain) and tap into the sub-cortical brain which stores memories, unconscious trauma, your deeper knowledge, and a bunch of old material. This part of the brain processes much quicker than the neocortex, but old memories and negative experiences can get 'stuck' and when you find yourself in a similar situation, your sub-cortical brain will quickly assume you are in danger and send you into fight, flight, freeze or fawn.

Unlike traditional therapy, there is very little talking during Brainspotting. In a Brainspotting session, you will choose an issue you would like to work on and we will find a brainspot that correlates with that issue. Once we identify the brainspot, your sub-cortical brain can reprocess and reintegrate that information so your brain no longer over-reacts when you are in a similar situation and you are able to remain calm and regulated.
